Ertuğ Karamatlı, PhD
Machine Learning & AI Consultant
I help companies turn machine learning and AI into dependable products: owning them end to end, from problem framing through deployment and monitoring. In practice, that’s finding what’s worth pursuing in a fast-moving field, building maintainable systems, and shaping strategy. I value results and favor simple, elegant solutions.
Background #
During my decade at sahibinden.com, Turkey’s largest classified ads platform, I worked as a principal software engineer and software architect before founding and leading the company’s applied machine learning research team, reporting to the CTO. I shipped ML systems used by millions of people: ad click prediction, vehicle make & model recognition, time series anomaly detection, recommendations, category & price suggestion, content moderation, fraud & bot detection, and more.
More recently, I worked with GrainFox, a grain-market intelligence platform, on their Smart Advisor product. I built time series forecasting and crop marketing planning tools, helped design the systems behind them, and prototyped LLM features. See what their team said.
I hold a PhD in Computer Engineering from Boğaziçi University, where I focused on deep learning, generative models, and audio signal processing. My thesis tackled source separation with self-supervised and weakly supervised deep learning. See the publications and abstract. I also hold an MS in Software Engineering and a BS in Computer Engineering.
